你们能看出来原著是什么吗?没错,苏轼的《水调歌头》。这首英译诗歌出自翻译家许渊冲。
杨振宁说,许老从英文诗翻译出来的中文诗,念起来像中文诗。他的中文诗翻译成英文诗,念起来像英文诗。每次我把许渊冲翻译的英文诗反反复复读的时候,就会有这样的感觉。译文形式整齐,格律铿锵,琅琅上口,特别注重了押韵,这是多半的翻译工作者很难做到的。
说到翻译家,不得不提严复。可能大家比较熟悉的是《天演论》。严复的翻译在不同时期有不同的侧重点,但都遵循了“信,达,雅”三原则。早期偏重意译,尤其是在《天演论》中,翻译时“不斤斤于字比句次”,”时有所颠倒附益”,就连他自己都承认“实非正法”。
举个例子:

要说严复的翻译,讲究“信达雅”,钱钟书的翻译,主张“化”,意思就是说抽象,玄妙。钱老最厉害的地方在于,他能够凭借惊人的语言才华,将看似不可能直译的地方创造出汉语中相等的表现来,比如:

可判可别,难解难分

战败最惨,而战胜仅次之

对于英文诗的翻译,是非常考验中文水平的,因为英文不会你还能翻翻字典,但是中文不好,词汇量匮乏,就只能回炉重造了!哪怕你在英文中读到多美的句子,中文不好是无法翻译和表达这种美的。
诗人徐志摩在翻译英文诗歌的时候,就把中文诗歌的特点和美感发挥到了极致。比如这首,徐志摩翻译的克里斯蒂娜·罗塞蒂的《歌》:

徐志摩最浪漫的地方在于,他把这首英文诗歌中非常简练的shadows,rain,nightingale,twilight等名词,融入了恰如其分的色彩、声音、味觉、听觉等,变成“地面的青荫”“雨露的甜蜜”“夜莺的歌喉”“悠久的昏暮”,让这首诗一下子立体丰富栩栩如生起来。
还有这首,威廉·布莱克《天真的预言》:
To see a world in a grain of sand
And a heaven in a wild flower,
Hold infinity in the palm of your hand
And eternity in an hour.
徐志摩译:
一沙一世界,一花一天堂。
无限掌中置,刹那成永恒。
这首又没有做任何多余的修饰,用极简而又对仗工整的“一花一世界,一叶一菩提”做改编,颇得原诗韵味。
以及,《The Tiger》:
Tiger!Tiger!burning bright
In the forests of the night
What immortal hand or eye
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?
译:
猛虎,猛虎,火眼似的烧红,
在深夜的莽丛,
何等神明的巨眼或是手,
能掌画你的骇人的雄厚?
burning bright,应该是其中最难翻译的了,这里“火眼似的烧红”真真是点睛之笔,猛虎的神态瞬间跃然纸上呼之欲出。
还有,Hadry 的《Faint heart In Railway Train》:
At nine in the morning there passed a church,
At ten there passed me by the sea,
At twelve a town of smoke and smirch,
At two a forest of oak and birch,
And then, on a platform, she:
A radiant stranger, who saw not me.
I queried, "Get out to her do I dare?"

翻译难,难不过翻译诗歌,因诗歌的难处不单是形式,也不单是神韵,你得把神韵进化成形式,又得把形式化入神韵。每一种语言的诗歌,都有她独特的魅力。而品大师所译大师巨作,徜徉于两种美中,不觉流连忘返矣。
