The table above illustrates the data about the percentage of employment as well as the average annual salary of individuals who newly graduated from five majors in Australian universities, namely, Health，Law, Science, Engineering &I.T., Art &Social Science and Business in 2009.

As can be seen from the table, the proportion of employment in the majors of Law and Engineering was relatively high, 87% and 86% respectively. Compared with other majors, the salary of both schools’graduates ranked the top position which accounted for 5800 Australian dollar per year. In contrast, although the major of Health proposed the largest percentage of employment, the annual income of these graduates was the second lowest among the ones that mentioned. On the other hand, graduates from Science school possessed the least salary (3900 Australian Dollar)   and also the smallest proportion of employment (39 percent). The data of employment rate and annual salary of Business and Art&Social Science graduates was medium. The former had 78 percent and 5200 Australian dollars income meanwhile the later existed 72 percent and 5000 Australian dollars every year.

Overall, it is apparently that the employment ratio and annual salary in five majors in Australian universities are not always directly proportional but the two factors do have an effect on each other.

Obviously, for the time being the trend of globalization is gaining momentum increasingly，which starts to exert a subtle impact on the world languages. Unsurprisingly, several languages like English，Spanish and French have risen to predominance and been widely accepted by the general population while numerous languages are struggling on the brink of extinction. Personally I am in favour of the recent tendency of language development to some degree.

Today, several languages are apparent to be used as lingua franca in various areas of the world. That type of development enables cross-cultural communication meanwhile can also reduce the misunderstanding and even confliction effectively. For instance, the majority of the website, product manual，leading journal are presented in the main languages that mentioned above. Moreover, when international students with a variety of mother tongues gather together, it is possible for them to have an effective communication by using media language. On the other hand, depend on the tendency, the job of translator and interpreters would also be much simplified as the availability of a new international language could save the troubles of learning many different languages.

However, the special sort of language development does not come without adverse effects. It is argued, as a matter of fact, the spread of the single language may lead to the “language colonization”, namely, the erosion of other countries’ native language which may even cause minority language to die out finally. If that situation happened, the national treasures handed down from our ancestors would be lost. Meanwhile, the nation’s sense of belonging would be seriously damaged as well.

Overall speaking, the trend of development in language benefits individuals basically, However, to avoid unnecessary trouble，vital procedures should be taken to preserve the declined languages.
