Shanghai is the most populous city in China. A global city, Shanghai exerts influence over commerce, finance, culture, art, fashion, research and entertainment. The city is located at the middle portion of the Chinese coast, and sits at the mouth of the Yangtze River.

Once a fishing and textiles town, Shanghai grew to importance in the 19th century due to its favourable port location and as one of the cities opened to foreign trade by the 1842 Treaty of Nanking. The city flourished as a centre of commerce between east and west, and became a multinational hub of finance and business by the 1930s. After 1990, the economic reforms introduced by Deng Xiaoping resulted in intense re-development and financing in Shanghai, and in 2005 Shanghai became the world's largest cargo port.

The city is a tourist destination renowned for its historical landmarks such as the Bund and City God Temple, and its modern and ever-expanding Pudong skyline including the Oriental Pearl Tower. Today, Shanghai is the largest centre of commerce and finance in mainland China, and has been described as the "showpiece" of the world's fastest-growing major economy.

A zero energy building (ZEB) or net zero energy building is a general term applied to a building's use with zero net energy consumption and zero carbon emissions annually. Zero energy buildings can be used autonomously from the energy grid supply ? energy can be harvested on-site. The net zero design principle is overlaid on the requested comfort of the building occupant. Generally, the more extreme the exposure to the elements the more energy is needed to achieve a comfortable environment of human use.

The zero fossil energy consumption principle is gaining considerable interest as renewable energy harvesting is a means to cut greenhouse gas emissions. Traditional building use consumes 40% of the total fossil energy in the US and European Union.[1][2] In developing countries many people have to live in zero-energy buildings out of necessity. Many people live in huts, yurts, tents and caves exposed to temperature extremes and without access to electricity. These conditions and the limited size of living quarters would be considered uncomfortable in the developed countries.

The development of modern zero-energy buildings became possible not only through the progress made in new construction technologies and techniques, but it has also been significantly improved by academic research on traditional and experimental buildings, which collected precise energy performance data. Today's advanced computer models can show the efficacy of engineering design decisions.

Energy use can be measured in different ways (relating to cost, energy, or carbon emissions) and, irrespective of the definition used, different views are taken on the relative importance of energy harvest and energy conservation to achieve a net energy balance. Although zero energy buildings remain uncommon in developed countries, they are gaining in importance and popularity. The zero-energy approach has potential to reduce carbon emissions, and reduce dependence on fossil fuels. Most ZEB definitions do not include the emissions generated in the construction of the building and the embodied energy of the structure. So much energy is used in the construction of a new building that this can dwarf the operational energy savings over its useful life.

A building approaching net zero-energy use may be called a near-zero energy building or ultra-low energy house. Buildings that produce a surplus of energy during a portion of the year may be known as energy-plus buildings.

If the building is located in an area that requires heating or cooling throughout parts of the year, it is easier to achieve net zero-energy consumption when the available living space is kept small.

TV show 主持人

杨澜:She's dubbed China's answer to Oprah Winfrey. One of the country's most famous faces, Yan Lang has an estimated fortune of hundreds of millions of dollars. And has also just been voted China's most beautiful woman. In 2001, she acted as the country's so-called "image ambassador" for its Olympic bid -- and was instrumental in winning the Games for China in 2008.

Educated at Colombia University in the United States, she won an audition to host a prime-time show in Beijing at the age of 21, suddenly exposing her to audiences of up to 300 million people. She then set up her own media company, which oversees her programs and has interests in magazines and Web sites. This week she will be hosting the one-year Olympic Countdown Ceremony and currently presents the show "One on One," which sees her speaking to a variety of heavyweight guests. Her other main program is a music talent show which searches for anthems for the Games -- that's where I joined her.

Oprah Winfrey (born Orpah Gail Winfrey; January 29, 1954) is an American television host, actress, producer, and philanthropist, best known for her self-titled, multi-award winning talk show, which has become the highest-rated program of its kind in history. She has been ranked the richest African American of the 20th century, the greatest black philanthropist in American history, and was once the world's only black billionaire. She is also, according to some assessments, the most influential woman in the world.

Winfrey was born into poverty in rural Mississippi to a teenage single mother and later raised in an inner-city Milwaukee neighborhood. She experienced considerable hardship during her childhood, including being raped at the age of nine and becoming pregnant at 14; her son died in infancy. Sent to live with the man she calls her father, a barber in Tennessee, Winfrey landed a job in radio while still in high school and began co-anchoring the local evening news at the age of 19. Her emotional ad-lib delivery eventually got her transferred to the daytime talk show arena, and after boosting a third-rated local Chicago talk show to first place, she launched her own production company and became internationally syndicated.

Credited with creating a more intimate confessional form of media communication, she is thought to have popularized and revolutionized the tabloid talk show genre pioneered by Phil Donahue, which a Yale study claims broke 20th century taboos and allowed LGBT people to enter the mainstream. By the mid 1990s, she had reinvented her show with a focus on literature, self-improvement, and spirituality. Though criticized for unleashing confession culture and promoting controversial self-help fads, she is often praised for overcoming adversity to become a benefactor to others.

From 2006 to 2008, her support of Barack Obama, by one estimate, delivered over a million votes in the close 2008 Democratic primary race.

The Benefits of Jigsaw Puzzles

Jigsaws Can Educate, Stretch the Mind & Make a Great Gift

People of all ages enjoy doing jigsaw puzzles. Babies will often be given a basic wooden jigsaw as an early toy and many people come back to puzzling in later life as a hobby. This isn't just about having fun. Doing a jigsaw comes with a range of mental and physical benefits and they can also make great gifts with a bit of thought.

The Educational Benefits of Jigsaw Puzzles for Children

It's not a coincidence that the shelves in toy stores always seem to contain a lot of jigsaws for all ages of children. Most kids will enjoy doing puzzles during their childhood. They are simply fun. But, there are also a range of benefits that come with this kind of toy. They can help children develop and boost certain key skills that will be useful to them as they proceed through school and on into later life. These include:

  • Puzzles can help develop a child's reasoning and problem solving skills. Even the simplest jigsaw will require them to think about what they do as they try to put the puzzle together.
  • Puzzles can also help a child to develop their fine motor skills when they are young. Having to pick up individual pieces and slot them into place without breaking up the bits they have already completed can be a complex task to learn. But, it can reinforce some skills that are essential to their development.
  • Putting a puzzle together will also work on the child's hand-eye co-ordination and their understanding of shapes and colours.
  • The subjects on puzzles can also be used as educational aids. An alphabet or number puzzle, for example, will be fun for the child to complete but is also a good opportunity for a parent to chat to them about letters and numbers and to reinforce learning.
  • Solving a puzzle can do wonders for a child's self-esteem. As puzzles get more challenging for them they also learn useful life skills such as seeing things through to completion and trying different approaches to problem solving.

・         One of the biggest benefits for children here is the fact that puzzles are fun. Many children will resist learning at home if they know it is happening. Enjoying making up a puzzle, however, could mask the fact that they are also having an educational experience.

・

The Benefits of Jigsaws for Adults

・         Although many adults get out of the habit of doing jigsaws as they grow older this remains a popular hobby for a lot of people. It is also a common pastime for people who have recently retired and who are looking for something fun to do now that they have more time on their hands. Many also believe that there are some real benefits to doing jigsaws, especially as people get older. These include:

  • Doing jigsaw puzzles can keep the mind active. Relaxing and fun as puzzles may be they will also involve the use of specific areas of the brain and a variety of mental skills. Many people find that one of the bonuses of puzzling is that it helps keep their minds active and alert.
  • Jigsaws can also be used positively from a physical perspective as people get older. Many find, for example, that doing a jigsaw regularly, even for just a few minutes a day, can be a useful way of promoting manual dexterity.

Both adults and children can enjoy doing puzzles on their own but this can be a fun social activity as well. A group of adults tackling a large and complex jigsaw can have a lot of fun!

Ideas for Giving Jigsaw Puzzles as Gifts

Jigsaws can make the perfect gift, both for children and for adults. They can, of course, simply be purchased in a store or online ready to go in a box. Personalised jigsaws are an alternative that can also make a simple gift really mean something. So, for example, a parent could take a photo of their kids and have it made up into a jigsaw as a gift for their grandparents. A photo or image of virtually anything could be personalised here.

The Growth of Online Jigsaw Puzzles

In recent years there has been an increase in the number of websites offering online jigsaws. These can be played on a computer either on a specialist site or as part of a general games site. Again, there are options available here for all ages and, best of all, the puzzles on offer here will be free!

Top 10 Reasons why Online Shopping is the Best

Because of the numerous Benefits of Shopping Online more and more people these days prefer Online Shopping over conventional shopping. There are many reasons why I think online shopping is the best too.

1) Convenience: The convenience of this method of shopping is what I like best about it. Where else can you do shopping even a midnight wearing your night suit? You do not

have to wait in a line or wait till the shop assistant is ready to help you with your purchases. You can do your shopping in minutes even if you are busy apart from saving time and avoiding crowds. Online shops give us the opportunity to shop 24 x 7 and also reward us with a ‘no pollution’ shopping. There is no better place to buy information products like e-books. Immediately after the payment is made one can download the information. And downloadable items purchased online eliminate the need for any kind of material goods at all.

2) Better Prices: Another thing which fascinates me is the cheap deals and better prices I get from online stores because products come to you direct from the manufacturer or seller without middlemen involved. Many online shops offer discount coupons and rebates. Apart from this, the Online Store is only required to collect sales tax if they have a physical location in our state even if we buy from a store across the world.

3) Variety: The choices you can get for products are amazing. One can get several brands and products from different sellers at one place. You can get in on the latest international trends without spending money on airfare. When you shop online, you can shop from retailers in other parts of the country or even the world without being limited by geographic area. These stores offer a far greater selection of colors and sizes than you will find locally. Apart from that, How many times have it happened that you spend your money reaching a local shop only to find that the product you need is out of stock? Some online shops have a provision to accept orders without stock and ship it across to you when the stock becomes available. You also have the option of taking your business to another online store where the product is available.

4) Send Gifts: Online Shopping makes sending gifts to relatives and friends easy, no matter where ever they stay. Now there is no need of making distance an excuse for not sending a gift on occasions like Birthday, Wedding Anniversary, Marriage, Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day etc.

5) Fewer Expenses: Many times when we opt for conventional shopping we tend to spend a lot more than the required shopping expenses on things like eating out, traveling, impulsive shopping etc.

6) Comparison of Prices: Online shops make comparison and research of products and prices possible. Online stores also give you the ability to share information and reviews with other shoppers who have firsthand experience with a product or retailer.

7) Crowds: If you are like me, you would like to avoid the crowds when you do the shopping. Especially during Festivals and Special events the crowds can really give a head ache. Crowds force us to do a hurried shopping most of the time. For me grumpy or irritating people and those who smell bad are a huge turn off. Crowds also create a problem when it comes to finding a parking place nearby where you want to shop and going back to your vehicle later loaded with shopping bags.

8) Compulsive Shopping: Many times when we go out on Shopping we end up buying things which we do not require because of the shop keepers up selling skills. Sometimes we even compromise on our choices because of the lack of choices in those shops.

9) Buying Old or unused Stuff at low prices: Online Shops make it possible for us to buy old or unused stuff at rock bottom prices. If we want to buy antiques there is no better options than online stores.

10) Discreet Purchases: Some things are better done in privacy. Online shops are also best for discreet purchases like adult toys, sexy lingerie and so on. Online Shops enable me to purchase under garments and lingerie without the embarrassment that there are several people watching me and my choices.

So, what do you think? Have I not given enough reasons on why online shopping is the best? In fact I love to buy Perfumes online. Another of my favorite items online is Precious and Semi precious Gemstones.
